News: Photo for LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 17 revealed at Toy Fair

LEGO has recently revealed the box of the upcoming Collectible Minifigures Series 17 in the their preview event in New York Toy Fair. This high-quality photo and names was shared by the Brick-Show. According to them possible names of the mini-figures are:

Top row from left to right: Surfer Boy, Gourmet Chef, Hot Dog Vendor, Elf Maiden, Circus Strongman, Yuppie, Veterinerian, and (possibly) Highwayman. Bottom row from left to right: Connoisseur, Butterfly Girl, Roman Gladiator, Corn Cob Guy, Retro Space Hero, Dance Instructor, Battle Dwarf and Rocket boy.

The Brick Fan has released a feel guide for finding the figures you want in blind bags. In my opinion this series contains very nice figures and also below average figures at the same time. There are many new accessories, recolored pieces and animals that will make the LEGO fans very happy. The rocket boy and the corn cob guy will be possibly the most favorites among the fans because of their body-wear accessories. French bulldog that will come out together with Connoisseur will be nice addition to LEGO's dog species list.

LEGO fan and user Renegade Clone who is known for his great Star Wars MOC's built this awesome cargo shuttle space vehicle, Zeta-class Imperial Cargo Shuttle from the movie Rogue One, a Star Wars Story (2016). Kaplan: We already know you are one of the best LEGO MOC'ers in the world. What can you tell us about yourself other than that. What is your real name? What is your dayjob? Do you have any other hobbies or activities?

Eero: I am Eero Okkonen. I write about my LEGO hobby on my blog Cyclopic Bricks. I’m from Joensuu, Eastern Finland, and I’m currently studying architecture on Tampere University of Technology (TUT). It’s my first year there, and it’s very interesting. I’m planning to graduate as an architect in 2021. My other hobbies include art in general (drawing, oil and watercolour, general tinkering – though my studies include most of them), music (I can’t play anything, but I listen to lot of it and buy records regularly), board games, reading, cycling, hiking… And naturally hanging with friends doing nothing particularly but doesn’t everybody do that.

K: Do you remember the day when you got your first LEGO set? Which set was it? And How old were you when you started playing with LEGO bricks?

E: No. I played with DUPLO before actual bricks (or pikku-leegot as they are called in Finland, sometimes), and I had plenty of my father’s old bricks from 70’s. But I remember some of my earliest set and these include quite good-looking 6335 Indy Transport (which was released only a year after I was born) and not-so-good 6474 4-wheeled front shovel. I’ve been around 4 or 5 years old back then.

Amazing and Huge Spaceship, Nautilus

Some MOC's looks so great that you could think that it is not made of bricks. Nautilus is one of those MOC's LEGO fan and user Alexander Safarik a.k.a. Malydilnar recently shared this amazing and huge spaceship in his photo-stream. The shaping of the ship, especially the engine  and the bridge sections are amazing.  The angles on the outer shell and the numerous details around the ship makes the creation really exceptional. These type of ships have to maintaining shipping routes and escorting commercial ships which try to enter or exit harbor. Adam create ship with known techniques but his ice effect is impressive. The Cat's Claws by W. Navarre

LEGO Fan and member W. Navarre shared his latest MOC for contest entry to The Tourney on MOCpages. Navarre revamped an old Castle set 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack. He perfectly recreate the famous Pirate ship which attacks to Harbor. Brickbuilt buildings in the harbor are more detailed and colorful than the old set but the ship is quite different and impressive. I really like and admire the brick built ships which contains no huge hull elements. Navarre is very talented to create such a perfect black ship.

Incredible Stone Tower Bridge (6089) Revamp by jaapxaap

I always sort of liked revamps of old LEGO sets built with modern techniques. If they are built nicely they have the nostalgia and the aesthetic look at the same time. LEGO fan and user jaapxaap did a really great job on his latest work, a revamp of the Stone Tower Bridge (6089) castle set. According to the description this MOC was built for The Tourney 2017 in MOCpages. The color-combination and the texturing of the structures was done nicely. I also liked how the roofs were built using small connector tube pieces. The original version had very large slope pieces to form the cliff but the jaapxaap was able to do it building a wall with an angle and that also look interesting. Using Shredders helmet and shoulder spikes to form purist custom figures and using nexo power tile  (Ice dragon power tile was used. Maybe another tile with red color would fit better.) as a symbol on the gate are other interesting ideas used in this MOC.

Can you see the wing on the House of Culture?

This awesome city building MOC was recently shared by LEGO fan and user O0ger. According to the description this creation was built for a Swebrick Contest. I especially like how the huge wing plate piece is used as the main part of the roof. The diagonal edge of the wing piece gives the roof a unusual and modern look. Large-size chess on the floor is another great idea that takes the MOC to another level. The builder decorated the build with a nice selection of minifigures and plants as well.

LEGO fan and user Sinan Bitişik who is known for his sci-fi vehicle models and vignettes shared this nicely shaped starfighter, QX-ULTRA 0.2. In the description the builder defined this vehicle as a middle range fighter. I think this fighter resembles to the Viper from the Battlestar Galactica. The clean look of the yellow sections together with gribbles on the gray sections looks great. Small mechanical details like hoses and landing gear make the creation even more interesting.

Classic Space Style Mega Core Magnetizer, M.C.V.P LL 928 by ZCerberus
Classic space is one of my favourite themes and the Mega Core Magnetizer (6989) is one of my all time favourite sets. user and Eurobricks member ZCerberus combined these two and created a beautiful space vehicle MOC. I really liked the greebles all around the vehicle as well as the smoothness of the blue trim sections. Using old magnet pieces added the MOC a little bit of nostalgia which is great. The huge transparent yellow canopy piece looks great giving the vehicle an absolutely classic space look while being a highly sought-after (also really expensive in the second-hand market) piece. You can check out the builders Eurobricks forum topic for more details and photos of the MOC.

LEGO Trojan Horse by Ryan

LEGO Fan and LEGO Certified Professional Ryan McNaught (aka brickman) created a MOC named Trojan Horse which has a huge horse model looking like LEGO's very own old molded horse. Ryan is a well-talented Professional builder who is not a employee of The LEGO Group but officially recognized by the LEGO Group as trusted business partner. This huge Troy diaroma took 53 hours to finish by using approximately 9500 pieces. MOC is not teach us so many new techniques but it is looking very impressive and fully detailed.

Realistic Heavy Equipment with PF by Beat Felber

The vehicle on the right is Marathon LeTourneau L-1200 LeTro-Loader, a diesel-electric wheel loader. Again it is in 1:28.5 scale matching the truck and it has six power functions. I really like the shaping of the vehicle they look very accurate to the real ones. Especially the truck looks almost exactly the real one. Combining PF with realistic system designs is always a very hard and Beat Felber accomplished an impressive work ones again. Don't forget to check out the builders photo-stream for many more amazing brick-built scale models.

Hornreach Keep, an amazing castle MOC collaboration.

This amazing castle MOC was built as a collaboration of user and LEGO fans Ben Cossy and Eli a.k.a. É.Ɓ. for Brickvention 2017. The detailing on the wall is done greatly and there is also lots of impressive rock formations and vegetation on the diorama as well. Two shades of bluish-gray gives the wall a nice look together with black colored roof on top of the towers. There is also a small town inside the walls where you can see a lot of small interesting details.

The smoke out of chimney is built using white snake pieces which is something I haven't seen before. I also like how the pavement around the tree was done. The 1x1 tile pieces are not fully stacked to the ground which makes it look more realistic for a historical scene. The river that flows through the village and the outer wall is also a great addition to the creation as well. Inside the keep there is also a hall full of figures and details as well. Check out Eli's photo-stream for more photos.

Doof Wagon from Mad Max Fury Road

LEGO fan and user speedyhead a.k.a. speedyhead79 recently shared this awesome Doof Wagon as it was seen in Mad Max Fury Road which is really great post-apocalyptic movie. The vehicle is very accurate to the vehicle in the movie as you can see the here. The acoustic equipment and detailing on the vehicle are really impressive. I also like the texture of the desert ground which is simply built using small sized plates and tan colored bushes.
